Raising awareness about unsolicited donations for Ukraine

There are currently many initiatives to assist in the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and surrounding European countries of Poland, Romania, Czechia, and Hungary. It is critical that logistics initiatives are coordinated with nationally supported platforms in those countries.

Currently these countries are overwhelmed with unsolicited supplies originating from around the world, which is having the unintentional effect of hampering the logistics operations to the crisis zones.

Funds are urgently needed to help with information sharing to support networks that are procuring vital hygiene and medical supplies for refugees fleeing from the conflict.

The Humanitarian Logistics Association is being supported in their information campaign by Pharma.Aero to communicate about the need to ensure that appropriate donations are provided. The wrong donation at the wrong time can disrupt response efforts by congesting ports, airports, and entry points, and may compete with priority relief items for transport and storage.

Pharma.Aero and the Humanitarian Logistics Association call upon our members and networks to:
• engage with national response teams, local civil society organisations and local charities to supplement their planning, logistics and communication efforts.
• advocate for improved coordination between stakeholders to minimise duplicated effort and maximize support to refugees.
• support fundraising efforts for initiatives that are making a real difference on the ground.

Pharma.Aero supports the Humanitarian Logistics Association in their action to raise funds for different initiatives within these affected countries.

On behalf of Mary Jelliti, Logistics Cluster Deputy Global Logistics Cluster Co-ordinator:

Dear Partners and colleagues,

I want to start by thanking you for your continued and active participation to the Logistics Cluster at global and local levels on the Ukraine Humanitarian Response. In such a large response, with the situation changing on an hourly basis, information is one of the most important resources we have.

As such, we would like to appeal for you to support each other by providing information at the regional/whole of Ukraine level about the capacities, gaps and bottlenecks in the various areas, so that we may coordinate to deliver a more effective humanitarian response to those in need.

Please use this link to complete a very short survey on your activity, capacity and gaps noted in the region and inside Ukraine.

All the information we can share now will help to smooth the response for the whole community and ensure a swifter and more coordinated response for the people on the ground, so please take do a few minutes to share your organisation’s information.

Thanks in advance for your assistance and your dedication to the humanitarian response.

Warehouses close to the border are full.

We are now facing strong transportation problems. Trucks are waiting 4-5 days in queue at the border to return to Poland.

We can’t use Ukrainian drivers, because they will be sent to army.

The best way to deliver humanitarian cargo to Ukraine is a train which connects Slawkow (Poland) and Lviv (Ukraine).

We are bringing refugees to Poland and sending cargo to Ukraine.

Global Logistics Cluster Information Exchange is now live for the Ukraine Humanitarian Response
The Global Logistics Cluster has launched a dedicated webpage where you can find regional and country general logistics planning maps and other critical information (e.g. customs procedures, UKR LCA). Additional informative documents will be uploaded soon.
